Burlington History

Burlington was named after the English town of Bridlington and was first settled in 1641. The town of Burlington was incorporated on February 28, 1799. Though it is now a suburban industrial town, it was originally an agricultural area. After Route 128 was built, Burlington became the fastest growing town of Massachusetts between 1955 and 1965.
